Bayfield Wisconsin

Bayfield Wisconsin is truly a year-round treasure for outdoor enthusiasts and those who admire the Great Lake, Lake Superior.  To the Ojibwe people, Lake Superior is Gitchi-Gami, or "The great water."  Ojibwe tribes are scattered throughout the Lake Superior region.  Bayfield Wisconsin, home to the Chequamegon Bay, located on the south shores of Lake Superior; named after Henry Wolsey Bayfield, a British Admiral from 1975 to 1885 (Wisconsin Historical Society). Bayfield Wisconsin is known for its rich fishing, abundance of lumber from the pine, hemlock and hardwood trees.  From 1866 to 1892, Bayfield served as the county seat until Washburn replaced it.  A popular recreation destination to those from Chicago
